Public Relations Coordinator Gladys Schuler announced a tree could be reserved for the Festival of Trees by calling the village hall.  Chief Mandarino reminded residents to change the batteries in their carbon monoxide and smoke alarm detectors.

Attendance at two recent meetings: The Northeast Illinois Planning Commission forecasting to the year 2030 on land use and economic development. An Economic Development Seminar sponsored by SSMMA was also attended with Terry Mulcahy, a member of Midlothian's Economic Development Committee.

A request and recommendation to purchase a rack for gear at a cost of $5228.60 was made. The village will pay half and half would be paid from foreign fire funds.

President Murawski entertained a motion to concur with the recommendation.

Motion made by Trustee Stephens and seconded by Trustee Wilkins.

ROLL CALL: AYES: Trustees Kreis, Wilkins, Papineau, Stephens, and Kreis-Verble. NAYS: None. Motion carried.

A request and recommendation for Rosemarie Malone to attend the Illinois Fire Chiefs Secretary Association seminar in Champaign, November 20-23rd was read.

President Murawski entertained a motion to grant funds as requested.

Motion made by Trustee Kreis-Verble and seconded by Trustee Kreis. All ayes. Motion carried.

Chief Bittin reminded everyone of the Golf Outing on Monday, August 19th. Building Superintendent, Rick Hansen reported that the sewer and operation maintenance program of 1998 would begin August 4th. 

President Murawski wished Joe Bortz, the new owner of Groovy's much success.
