All of us are concerned about property values and maintaining community pride. Community pride requires that all of us do our part to keep our "little corner of the world" looking good. The outward appearance of our home is the image that we present to the world. Just as we want our business district "lookin' good," we want our residential neighborhoods to look their best too. By ordinance, grass/vegetation must be cut regularly and garbage is not to be put out until the evening before the scheduled pickup...not before 6 PM during daylight savings time and not before 4 PM during standard time. Likewise, cans are to be brought back to the rear of the property by 8 PM on the pickup day. People who put garbage out too early and/or leave garbage cans out beyond the pickup day will be issued citatins. And, if you are unable to now your own lawn, hire a young person to do it for you...we have names of those willing to do this type of work. Call the Village Hall for names and numbers. Don't wait for a citation to be issued. If we all adhere to these few, simple rules, cummunity pride will be maintained and all of Midlothian will be "lookin' good."
On a related topic, be considerate of your neighbors when using machinery or lawn care equipment, playing a radio/stereo, leaving your dog outdoors, or having an outdoor party. Do not use noisy equipment before 8 AM or after 8 PM. If your dog is in your yard barking, bring it in the house, It may not be disturbing you, but changes are it is disturbing your neighbors. Likewise, if you are having an outdoor party, keep the noise down, especially after dark. Parties that go on well into the night and early morning hours may be fun for partygoers, but they are not much fun for neighbors who are trying to watch TV or sleep. The point is, be aware of your neighbors and be considerate of them. It is a matter of common sense. Be reasonable and be a good neighbor.
