South Suburban College has partnered with Star Truck Driving School to offer truck driver training at the SSC campus in South Holland.  This exciting new program prepares students for employment in the trucking industry.  This special accelerated course provides an emphasis on local pickup and delivery operations, and is designed to provide comprehensive training in all facets of safe, defensive riving in demanding local traffic conditions.  Students will need a D.O.T. Physical, a driving record from the Secretary of State, and submit to a drug screening to get started in the program.

Star Truck Driving School offers a complete training program in four to six week courses from 7 AM to 3:30 PM, Mondays through Fridays.  No weekend courses are offered, but a new section for the program begins every two, three or four weeks, depending on the demand.  Classes include approximately forty hours of classroom instruction with the remainder of the time spent in a truck.  The full program enables a student to acquire a permit, vehicle inspection (pre-trip), backing skills, and road test.  Star supplies all insurance and vehicles, which includes a tuck for testing.

Students can train for C.D.L.'s in both Class A and B.  Class A permits drivers fr a tractor/trailer combination vehicle and Class B permits drivers for a straight truck.  The corresponding vehicle tests will be performed on SSC's campus by an examiner from the Secretary of State.  Upon successful completion of classes and tests with the Secretary of State, a training certificate and license are issued.  Their mission is to produce the safest, most professional, and best-educated truck drivers in the industry today.  Equally important to the students and to South Suburban College is the attention devoted to seeing graduates find the kinds of jobs in trucking that will provide secure futures for them and their families.
