I'd like to take a moment and tell you who we are...we are you!
Midlothian E.S.D.A. (Emergency Services and Disaster Agency) is made up of local citizens from your neighborhood who want to help make their community a better place to live in by volunteering. Midlothian E.S.D.A. is separate organization that works with each Department within the Village of Midlothian.
When the Fire Department has a call-out where they need help with crowd or traffic control they call on E.S.D.A. We can handle the logistics of foot and vehicle traffic and coordinate the proper personnel in and out of the emergency zone, allowing the fire department to concentrate on saving people and property. We also work with our Police Department on traffic accidents, security at local festivals and special patrols on holidays.
Midlothian E.S.D.A. is a part of a larger group of volunteers known as S.M.A.R.T. (Suburban Mutual Aid and Response Team). As a part of the S.M.A.R.T. organization we assist other communities with local emergencies such as ground search and rescue, tornadoes, natural disasters and other situations where greater manpower is needed for emergency response. Belonging to this group and working with other communities is one of the reasons we were recently the recipient of a donated surplus squad car from New Lenox E.S.D.A..
It seems like a long explanation but there is a lot of work that is done. I would like to thank all of the E.S.D.A. officers who volunteer their time to make Midlothian a better place to live.
If you are interested in volunteering your time to make Midlothian a better community please call the Village Hall and express your interest.
