The Long Winter

* It is believed in good faith that the following content can be found in the Vol. 1 No. 1 December 1986 edition of the Tartan Tidings and is for general reference and/or research purposes only.  For further information regarding the information listed here, please contact The Village of Midlothian in Midlothian, Illinois. *

Before weather gets too severe, look around our home and foundation for exposed water pipes, and shield them from icy winds.  Foam insulation, heat tapes, or even a piece of plywood may keep you from having a January freeze-up.  On sub-zero nights leave a tap running slightly, and leave the under-sink cabinet doors in the kitchen standing slightly ajar. If frozen pipes occur on your property, you must hire a plumber – the village is responsible only for the mains in the street.
