A local housewife who says she “learned the hard way” why the village requires permits, was charged $2,700 for a plumbing job which should have cost $400. There are unscrupulous contractors and “fly-by-nigh” firms victimizing our residents every day, reminds Trustee Ed Hayden. Beware of anyone who solicits work, do not sign anything or pay any money for work until you have checked with the village hall to assure thatyour contractor is licensed, bonded and has taken out the proper permit for your work. The village is powerless to help you get problems rectified unless you have adhered to the law.
