Chicago Southland Economic Development administers the Cook County Development Block Grant (CDBG) Single Family Rehabilitation Program for thirteen communities, including Midlothian. The purpose of the program is to assist low to moderately-low income families to make needed home repairs. The grant is given in the form of an interest-free mortgage, payable upon the sale of the property or transfer of title.
To date the Village of Midlothian has had great participation in the program with outstanding results and satisfied residents. This program is designed to make your living quarters safe, health and maintenance free for the next ten years, if possible, without the burden of additional monthly payments. To that end, the grant program does not allow for partial rehab – it must be a 100% rehab. Rehabs can include a new roof, a new furnace, siding, windows, etc. You must meet the following qualifications:
1. You must be the owner of the home and live in the home.
2. There must be equity to cover the cost of the repairs.
3. You agree to all building code violations being eliminated
4. Household income must not exceed the following limits:
(The number to the left represents the # of Person(s) in the household and the dollar amounts reflect the maximum income for the total household)
1 $42,200
2 $48,.250
3 $54,250
4 $60,300
5 $65,100
6 $69,950
7 $74,750
Plus $79,600
This is a great opportunity for single parent and senior households who meet these requirements to maintain their homes in good repair. Call the Midlothian Village Hall at 708-389-0200 for further information. The Grant Administrator can be reached at 708-922-4601.
